Whitelabel Menace is a collection of instrumentals which were popular when I started becoming a serious vocalist. Maybe I'm too honest on this site.lol But my DJ at the time (Journey) supplied the instrumentals, based on what he thought OTHER DJs would spin.
The idea was to pick tracks everybody in Reggae would be jumping on... (Riddims) and also the tracks NO ONE in Reggae would be jumping on... (Beyonce Track) and then remix them as original songs.
Anyway I was able to book shows, land mainstream radio spots, and work with DJs worldwide... really for the first time, when these remixes came out.
I spent a LOT of time giving the DJs exclusives, so they would spin these remixes alongside the original tracks. This is how I got spins on top 40 stations, Clear Channel, etc, without the payola. |
